Women who make excuses for abusive men: Rihanna tells Oprah “Chris needed help”

Oprah released another teaser for her sit down with Rihanna and viewers get to see the Bajan beauty break down once again over the Chris Brown incident.

Rihanna spoke about the backlash Chris received, almost sounding like she was making excuses for the troubled singer;

“I felt like the only person they hate right now is him. It was a weird, confusing space to be in.

Because as angry as I was - as angry and hurt and betrayed - I just felt like he made that mistake because he needed help. And who’s going to help him? Nobody’s going to say he needs help, everybody’s going to say he’s a monster, without looking at the source. And I was more concerned about him.

It was embarrassing it was humiliating… I lost my best friend.”

This is always the case in domestic violence cases. The woman somehow feel that she did something wrong or the man just needs a “bit of help” and he would stop being violent.

Unfortunately, it sounds like Rihanna still isn’t over Chris Brown. I’ve stuck by Rihanna all these years and I’m not going to stop now but this incident is still a big part of her life. I think she and Chris needs a sit down.
