Would You Wear Adidas New “Slave Shackle Shoe”?

What is this? and who came up with this idea?
Adidas is now under fire for their new JS Roundhouse Mids, with many users branding it the “Slave Shackle Shoe”. The footwear has bright orange/yellow bracelets that attaches to the ankle similar to shackles worn by African Slave during Slavery in the 19th Century.
The image was posted on Adidas’ official facebook page and immediately got mixed responses. One user commented
“adidas you need to be ashamed of even considering to sell a item like this.. it just destroys the fight we as american black have fought for over the last 200 years and in one short moment.. you want to make us step back even for a minute.. I WILL NEVER BUY ADIDAS SHOES AGAIN”
Another user commented
“I daresay that marketing & selling a shoe with a ‘chain & shackle’ accessory is a very bad idea.
The ‘chain & shackle’ image has a bad connotation, that of slavery, in the African American community.
I think it’s inappropriate. The idea of being chained to Adidas or any object is repulsive.”
My two cents. These shoes are tasteless, the creative team behind these should not be allowed to put their thoughts on a note pad let alone be near a drawing book. Run DMC need to re-examine their 1990 adidas promotion.
