In WTF News: Squid Impregnates Woman in her Mouth

If you’re eating sushi or any raw food before reading this story…stop.

According to new reports a South Koren woman was impregnated with baby cephalopods in her mouth when she ate a portion of calamari. The 63-year-old South Korean woman said she felt a sharp pain in her mouth, which was later examined by doctors who revealed they were ‘bug-like organisms’ present in the woman’s mouth

The organisms were removed from her gums, tongue and cheek before being identified as squid spermatophores.

Twelve small, white spindle-shaped, bug-like organisms stuck in the mucous membrane of the tongue, cheek, and gingiva [gums] were completely removed, along with the affected mucosa.

According to the Daily Mail:

Incidents involving the impregnation of human mouths appear to be confined to the Far East where, generally, more raw fish is eaten.

When squid is prepared in the west, internal organs are removed meaning there is no risk of eating spermetaphores
